Stay safe on the road this Wet Season In the lead up to the holiday season Northern Territory Police are appealing to motorists and road users to be vigilant and take care on our roads. Commander David Proctor, Traffic and Operational Support Command, said that the families and friends from our community have been impacted by four fatalities and several serious crashes recently. “As we head into the Wet Season Police urge motorists to: • Ensure your vehicle is in good condition for the journey; • Check the weather forecast for where you are headed, prepare for sudden changes and drive to the conditions; • Plan rest stops to avoid fatigue; • Make sure all persons in your vehicle are wearing seatbelts. “Even if you are familiar with a particular stretch of road or you’re not travelling far it’s essential that road users slow down, take care and drive to conditions. “The NT Road Toll now stands at 35 compared to 32 last year. “Look after yourself, look after your mate and let’s work together to ensure everyone can arrive safely at their destination and enjoy this holiday season.”
