Stefanie Alyce asked, I have a question about hybrid learning for pre-k age. My daughter is 4. She started being able to recognize words at 2.5. Because of her desire, she learned the solar system and about 20 dinosaurs that same year. As a baby, she picked up signing so fast we couldnt keep up. She has always recognized landmarks and remembered driving paths. We think she has an exceptional memory plus unrelenting curiosity. Her last 6 months interest has been the heart, brain, bones, etc. Now, she is a GREAT reader, sounding out words and recognizing them easily. For the last few months she has been saying she does not want to be homeschooled. She is resisting the activities we used to do. Weve always just fleshed out her interests, but she is clamming up on us because she wants to go to class with other kids. At first I was shocked. But the longer this goes on, I am wondering if I need to be flexible in this. Weve always given her as many choices as possible and let her make her own decisions, when reasonable to do so. What are hybrid options for someone so young? What classes/environments are out there that would be beneficial (and safe) for an advanced learner? What do other parents do when they want to homeschool but have a growingly resistant child? I want to do the right thing, and I do not know what it is....any help would be appreciated!
