Stephanie Freeman The fracturing of the Democratic Party seems to be producing two different factions -- the Wall Street faction, ruled over by Pres. Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, and what could be called the Revolutionary FDR Democratic faction. While no one in this group has stepped forward to become a leader of it just yet, the fact that were now looking at a major political crisis, with both the Democratic and Republican parties in disarray, and the presence of the Wall Street backers of both parties is now front and center, this could open the door to apply the kind of political leverage necessary to break up this grotesque, two-headed political monopoly, enact meaningful political and election reform, get the Wall Street gangsters, corporate oligarchs and plutocrats out of the political process once and for all, and reawaken the historical, social, political and civic memory of the American people so they will become not only the governed, but will also be able to take on the civic duty of actually governing. Once the American people have been set free from the twin tyrannies of forgetting their true identity as active, engaged citizens, instead of passive, disengaged consumers, and a political system which has been the servant of the ultra-wealthy for far too long, wed have a Congress and a Presidency which truly serves the people, and not the wealthy.
