Steve looks so sad, and I guess I cannot blame him. The poor guy has been in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks now. He has not been able to talk either so that really makes it hard on him. They have been giving him lasix but he is still really swollen. It kills me to see him laying there helpless, and being able to do absolutely nothing to help him. I have seen improvements in Steve since he was first admitted, but not at a very fast rate. I know they are doing what they can, but I just want him to get well enough soon so that he can get out of the hospital. That alone will help him mentally. Noone deserves what Steve has had to go through since September. He just cannot seem to catch a break. He has had pneumonia and sepsis, and was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He went through radiation and chemo. He had surgery to remove the mass and ran into complications so had to settle for a stent. He has had trouble breathing all through this, and has had to have 3 thoracentesis, problems with constant Afib issues. He just recently went in to get fluid drained off of his heart and had problems breathing on his own after coming out of surgery. He was put into the ICU unit up until yesterday. He had to have a trach put in so that he could get the vent out of his mouth. I have no ideal what is going to happen from here. They are talking about short term care, but it appears the insurance company is not liking that ideal. To tell you the truth I would just assume he stay at FMC because it is at least close enough. I pray that Steve makes it through all of this, but if God has other plans for Steve I hope that he will give him some good days so that he can at least enjoy what time he has left. Steve has been through hell and has not given up.
