Steven Sotloff, a 31-year-old freelance journalist from Florida, disappeared while working in Syria last year. The US said today that the video is authentic. This comes two weeks after ISIS released video of US journalist James Foley’s execution. In that video, they threatened to kill Sotloff too unless the US stopped conducting airstrikes in Iraq. Sotloff’s mom then begged ISIS for his release in a video plea last week. It’s believed that the same militant beheaded both Foley and Sotloff.
