Stewart James Greene has been charged with his grandson, Alex Robinsons, murder A grandfather accused of murdering his nine-year-old grandson two days before Christmas has been pictured for the first time. The 64-year-old appeared at Lincoln Crown Court for a preliminary hearing today, where he wore a grey jumper and jogging bottoms. Greene was arrested soon after emergency services were called to the bay-fronted terraced house, where his grandson lived, shortly before Christmas. The youngster was rushed to Lincoln County Hospital by ambulance but died shortly afterwards. Greene, who lived 25 miles away in the Lincolnshire village of Grimoldby, was charged with murder on Christmas Eve after police received details of a post-mortem examination on Alex. The cause of the schoolboys death has not been revealed by Lincolnshire Police. During a twelve-minute hearing in court today, he appeared flanked by two security officers and nodded when asked to confirm his name. For much of the hearing he sat with his head in his hands. No pleas were entered during the hearing and there was no application for bail. Greene was remanded in to custody by Judge Michael Heath and will next appear for a plea and case management hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on 24 April. There were no family members present for the hearing. Friends and family have used Facebook to express their grief and pay tribute to Alex, whom they described as ‘a lovely’ little boy. Alex Robinson died after emergency services were called to his home in Lincoln on December 23 Alexs father, John Robinson, paid tribute to his son on Facebook with the message: My little boy up in heaven the brightest star shining ever xxx. The youngsters uncle, who uses the name Gen Robbo, wrote: ‘My beautiful nephew the brightest star in the sky. ’ One woman said: Gorgeous boy, Rip Alex. Another Angel taken to soon xxx. And another website user added: Rip little man, heavens gained another young angel xxx. Neighbours in Lincoln also spoke of their shock. Paula Smith, 43, said: ‘I feel so sorry for the family. I used to see the little boy going up and down the street on his scooter being followed by his little sister. ‘I can’t believe that this has happened. It’s tragic and it’s awful.
