Still planning your Saturday events? Check out whats happening today in Burke County. Saturday, Dec. 6 Parade The town of Hildebran will have a Christmas Parade 1 p.m. Line up will start at noon. Hospice store accepting donations Burke Hospice’s Thrifts & Gifts truck will be accepting donations at Roses Discount Store in Morganton from 12-3 p.m. All donations are tax-deductible. Proceeds from Thrifts & Gifts store benefit Burke Hospice & Palliative Care patients and programs. For assistance with large items or furniture donations, pick-ups can be arranged by calling Thrifts & Gifts at 828-874-8843. Holiday bazaar and health fair A holiday bazaar and health fair will be held at Magnolia Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located at 107 Magnolia Drive, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local crafters are invited to set up booths. Hot dog and Hamburger plates will be sold, $5. For more information, call 828-437-8760. Valdese parade The Town of Valdese will host its annual Christmas parade at 10 a.m. Larry Earp is the grand marshal. Glen Alpine parade The annual Glen Alpine Christmas parade will be held at 2 p.m. Parade entries line up on Pollard Avenue off Lail Road. Olive Hill Christmas event Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation will host a Christmas Event, “All Things Fashion” on Dec. 6. The social hour 6:30-7:30 p.m.; entertainment, 7:30-8 p.m.; fashion show, 8-8:30 p.m.; dance, 8:45-11 p.m. Tickets cost $50. Wine and cash bar available. Special Caveat dance classes held prior to the event in October. Funds are being raised to continue building, start-up and for existing business support. Railroad museum open The Piedmont and Western Railroad open house, 9 a.m. to noon., 400 Main St. W in Valdese. Breakfast with Santa Burke Middle College is hosting a breakfast with Santa fundraiser, 8-10 a.m. at Friday Friends. The event includes a breakfast buffet and a special treat for kids who visit with him. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for a photo opportunity, so bring your cameras. BMC students and staff are selling tickets to this event for $8 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $9. For more information, call 828-448-3175. Parade The annual Christmas parade at South Mountain Children and Family Services will take place at 2 p.m. Santa will be on hand and refreshments are available in each of the homes. Pet photos with Santa Burke County Friends for Animals will offer pet photos with Santa, 12-4 p.m. at 417 Kirksey Drive. The cost is $8. Santa fly in Santa will be landing at the Foothills Regional Airport at approximately 1:30 p.m. Aircraft will be on display, refreshments available, 1-4 p.m. Bring cameras for picture with Santa.
