Stinks I have no flicks! 90yrs and this life is what theyve established. She held it down! birthed 9 adopted 2 - and now 160 souls later. And we still growing. A moment of appreciation for this lady. I tell her its so hard to find a pic of her smiling, and she replies I hate smiling cos I got no teeth haha (lies cos shes got a few left lol) Going through her always non smiling stern face pose for the first time I realised. I seen this beautiful samoan woman, in her time limited and restricted to the samoan cultural standards and beliefs of how a female should act/be. I seen a doting wife to a very confident powerful man and a strict mother holding down the forte making their home a home with the little they had. A mother who grieved too early the loss of a child, a mother who let her babies leave the island for a chance for a better life than she. A mother who had a naughty as son like my dad who I could imagine wouldve broken her heart multiple times. Im one of the lucky ones. Shes more than my grandmother, shes my superhero! The keeper of these 160 souls. And my other Superwoman. I Love and miss you nan!
