Stolen vehicle and traffic crash, Townsville March 15, 2014 at 4:13 pm Police are investigating after a stolen vehicle was involved in a serious traffic crash in Townsville early this morning. Initial information indicates around 5.10am the stolen station wagon struck the side of a fuel tanker truck on Woolcock Street. A passenger in the stolen vehicle, a 14-year-old boy, was transported to Townsville Hospital with injuries to his pelvis. The 46-year-old truck driver was uninjured. Lane closures were in place for several hours while crews cleaned up the scene. Police believe the station wagon was stolen during a burglary at a residence on Rio Vista Way at Kirwan earlier this morning. The driver and two other occupants of the vehicle, all believed to be juveniles, fled the scene before police arrived. Investigations are continuing.
