Stop Blaming God Read Job 34:1 through 37:24 Chad gave his life to Jesus about five years ago. He faithfully attended church on Sundays, tithed from his paychecks, and attended the men’s prayer meetings when he could. Then the recession of 2007 hit. In some ways, it was the beginning of many sorrows for Chad. His finances were the first things to suffer. Before the year ended, his employer downsized the company and cut everyone’s hours. Credit-card bills started to pile up. Two months later, Chad twisted his left knee and needed arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn cartilage. Gout soon settled in the injured joint. As he limped around the house, his frustration rose. Now angry, Chad blamed God for all these calamities. “It is unthinkable that God would do wrong, that the Almighty would pervert justice” (Job 34:12). God is not out to wrong us nor cause us to stumble or fail. He is good, just, and always has our best interests at heart. Still, even if the Lord does test us, as He did Job, we will pass the test if we simply trust Him and remain faithful in prayer. Thought for Today: How we react to adversity can either build our faith or hinder it. Quicklook: Job 34:10–15
