Stop lights change from red to green. Pentagon employees push - TopicsExpress

Stop lights change from red to green. Pentagon employees push paper. Roads quietly carry families home from the library where books are processed by a librarian. Police officers rush to the scene of a car crash. Sewer grates let runoff water escape to the river. Street lamps shine a light into the darkness. Each element is part of the machine. Sometimes fuses need changed and systems need refined, and strategies rethought. Darren Wilson had his day in court, and it was deemed his fuse need not be replaced. But let it never be assumed that the architectures of our local, state, or federal governments have been perfected. No element is above reproach. Bless this land, where officers may go to court. Some may resent that I think of government employees as nothing more than glorified street lamps, merely cogs in a machine. Merely? No, it is an honor. To help shoulder the weight of this society and to shine light into the darkness.
