Stormy weather pattern with three storms on the horizon. FOR WEATHER GEEKS ONLY: Ive been talking about a major change to the overall weather pattern for a couple weeks and here it comes. The jet stream relaxes the ridge in the west allowing the southern jet to become active. What does that mean?? It means the storm systems will arrive from the southwest instead of the northwest. These are the snowstorms with copious amounts of moisture and the ones that can produce significant snowfall. The first system brings snow to Central Ohio late Thursday night into Friday. The first map Ive posted shows an inch or two of slushy snow north of Columbus before snow turns to rain Saturday. We cant rule out a period of sleet or freezing rain late Friday night into Sunday morning. NWS Wilmington warns a 1/10th of an inch of ice may be possible. The second storm is the one to watch! The ECMWF (second map) shows low pressure developing across Texas and tracking into the Ohio Valley by Tuesday afternoon. Snow will spread north of the low and the computer models are all showing a foot or more accumulation. The track at the moment has the bulls eye over Central Ohio, but I caution you that the track of the low is still uncertain at this time. Nevertheless.... Id be watching this one if I was you! Finally... a third storm system moves up from the southwest by February 7th and 8th. Likewise, the models are showing a decent amount of snow with this system as well. The third map shows how it just keeps adding up! Ill be keeping you updated on these three storms and the ones I predict will follow during a snowy February!
