Strange Rituals that Attend Death in the South: 1. Women will wear rambunctious flowerdy dresses, ridiculous hats, big hair, and shoes at least a size and a half too small. 2. Men will wear suits they have not worn since the last funeral. 3. While standing around, people will constantly point to strangers and explain which cousin of yours they are. 4. Visitors will comment on how good the dead guy/gal looks when everybody knows s/he no longer looks anything like natural. 5. Theres never enough air conditioning. 6. A preacher is going to speak awkwardly for several minutes about a person he may not have known. 7. Potato salad. Theres always potato salad. Did I forget any?
