Strange trick-or-treater. The trick-or-treaters were so cute, especially the little ones. Almost every one of them said, Thank you, when I put the candy in their sacks. And most of them came in groups, their parents standing at the end of the driveway while the kids came to the door. Except for one little boy. He came alone and looked to be about 11 or 12. He was dressed in non-descript clothes, nothing special, but hed painted his face green and had fake blood on his t-shirt. I opened the door and he didnt say Trick or treat. He only stared at me. So I laughed and said, Oooh. You look scarey. He calmly said, You SHOULD be scared. I put the candy in his sack and he turned to leave. I called out, Be careful out there, as I do to all the children. He stopped in his tracks, turned and looked back at me and very coldly said, No, YOU should be careful. I have a gun! He patted a canvas-type bag he had thrown over his shoulder, then disappeared across the yard into the darkness. In years gone by, I would have laughed and thought him to be a kid who was really into the scary Halloween spirit. Now, however, he gave me the chills.
