Strathmore’s very own Jane Oliver is at it again! Take a look at this beautiful drawing she created on a 9x12 sheet of Toned Gray sketch paper. Jane was inspired by Photographer Kate T. Parkers stunning images, and was drawn to the dramatic play of light and shadow in this particular photo. Kate has a gift for capturing real moments in her photographs. In her own words: I prefer the casual, the mistakes, the imperfect, toothless smiles, scraped up knees, messy hair. Kate’s black and white photographs lend themselves perfectly to the neutral mid-tone of the gray paper. Jane was able to add highlights to her drawing using white charcoal, and shading with graphite and charcoal. Sometimes the hardest part of drawing can be deciding what to draw.
