Strong and Skinny Tip of the Day: For those of you who get dizzy in yoga, try these tips: 1. Make sure you eat 60-90 minutes before your practice. 2. When going from forward bend to standing, go very slowly, maybe even pause for a full inhale/exhale in a flat back before coming the rest of the way up 3. Before you come the rest of the way up, flex your calf muscles and squeeze some of the blood out of your legs back up into your torso. 4. The breath to yoga is important, but you might want to let go of the Ujjayi breath ocean breathing and breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth, more similarly to Pilates. The reason for this is because the Ujjayi breath can cause you to exhale out carbon dioxide faster than the body produces it. This makes the blood less acidic, which apparently causes a chemical alteration in nerve function that makes you feel light-headed. Hope that helps!
