In this passage Peter gives us a wider perspective. In comparison with eternity, suffering would last only a little while. Some will be strengthened and delivered in their own timelines. While Others will be released from their suffering through death. All Gods faithful followers are assured of eternal life with Christ where there will be no suffering!
