Stuck at home with Oncall this weekend... so did something - TopicsExpress

Stuck at home with Oncall this weekend... so did something useful... along with a few calls. Slowly working through the house getting rid of the value line fixtures. Scott Patrick builds a great home, and ours being a model had some nice upgrades, but the fixtures. fans, door handles, etc.. because it was his value line home.... yuck! Put two new antique bronze faucets in the main bathroom this weekend... The first one yesterday was more or less routine, other than getting this old body used to working upside down under the sink... man that doesnt get any easier..and these had small door openings to squeeze through, to boot. The second one today tried to do a number on me. Went to take the old one out, and discovered one of the plastic retaining nuts was wedged between the sink and the countertop (the contractors put these on first then drop the sink and this cutoff was just a little smaller, apparently). Spent awhile thinking about it - couldnt easily just take the sink out since its grouted in - and eventually managed to drill it out by drilling a bunch of small holes that let me then bust it out. Then to put in the new one, had to trim down the new ring so that it would turn (but not too small as it still had to be bigger than the hole). Goter done but it took a little while longer than planned.
