Ive been tagged to name 10 books that have meant something to me. Of course, I have to tag 10 people. Rules: In your status line, list 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Dont take more than a few minutes and dont think too hard ~ they dont have to be the right or great works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag 10 friends, including me, so Ill see your list. 1) Danny and the Dinosaur -- first book I could read on my own. 2) Battle Cry, by Leon Uris. -- a sappy sentimental story about the Marines, Island hoping in the Pacific in WW2. Great reading for kid back in the 60s. 3) Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott. Still relevant today, but again a great adventure for a young boy. I have re-read this book about 10 times. 4) Medea by Euripides -- got me going on Greek Tragedies 5) Fields of Fire, by James Webb -- long out of print, this is probably the best novel to come out of the Vietnam War. Webb would go on to be Sec of Navy and a US Senator. 6) Ploesti, the great ground-air battle of August 1, 1943, by Duggan and Stewart -- great book even if my Dad wasnt in it. 7) The Power Broker, by Robert Caro -- everything you need to know about NYS and a must for anyone who works in government. 8) The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, by Edward Gibbon --I have only read the thousand page abridged Penguin version, but probably one of the greatest books ever written and still accessible to todays reader. 9) Undaunted Courage, by Steven Ambrose. His history of the Lewis and Clark expedition is the best of all his books. 10) Slaughterhouse Five, by Kurt Vonnegut -- Made me realize that its okay to see things differently. Now I have to tag ten people Tom Smolen, Theresa Smolen, Bernie Mulleda, Peterjoe Certo, Peter Salinas, Jayne Fresina, Carrie Hogan, Patrick Hogan, Brian Baum, Terry Gaffney
