Student in focus: We have showcased a few talented students of our university earlier. Today we want to highlight the talent of Nishant Sodani, a 3rd Year ECE student, who has great love for sports and music, besides of course doing well in the engineering field. He is an excellent self-taught Rhythm Guitarist with no musical training. In 2012 his love for music led him along with a few friends to form a band named “Centrifugal”, which is a sufi Rock Fusion Band. He is the Manager of this band. In a short span of approximately two years, the band has created a name for itself and has played on various platforms with celebrities like Rannvijay Singh , Bohemia and has also being featured on Star Sports live when they played in Major Dhyan Dhand Stadium for the Delhi Wave Riders Team during the Indian Hockey League. The band has also been featured in the print media with coverage in papers like Gurgaon Friday newspaper , Hindustan Times, Navbharat Times ,etc. They have played in many venues all over Delhi including colleges and clubs and have also done a few shows in Chandigarh. One of the band’s original compositions named “Baant Le Bandeya”, which is basically a song for a social cause Blood Donation, is being aired on FM radio. Yet another composition of his which is very popular is a soft romantic song “Yaadein”. His band is planning to release their first album at the end of this year. Nishant believes that it is essential for all students to have a productive outlet or hobby besides their main academic pursuit. This gives them an outlet to showcase their talent and helps them achieve harmony in life. To him “Music is the soul .....which will always stay with you throughout ur life. Many things will come in and out of your life but music will leave footprints in ur life.” We wish Nishant and his band Centrifugal all the best and hope to see them churning out great music with many a hit album in the years to come.
