Students are advised to use the tutorial reading for structuring - TopicsExpress

Students are advised to use the tutorial reading for structuring their tutorial presentation. However, they will also need to carry out sufficient research to present the case meaningfully. The format of the presentation is flexible, and could, along with the PowerPoint/Prezi, involve making a short film or radio show; an interactive ‘show and tell’ style approach, etc. As long as your group can successfully and thoughtfully present your research and findings within the allotted time, there is no limitation to how you may choose to express it. Every member of the group must be present and participating for the class presentation. As a group, students will be expected to critically examine and analyse the communication technology and with reference to the central theory proposed in this course. Any case study applied in the presentation has to focus on the field of communication (PR, advertising, health communication, social marketing, etc.). The key questions for this task include: § In what way has the communication technology changed society? § How does the proposed theory help to understand the impacts of the technology? What are the implications for communication practitioners? § What are the reasons behind the success/failure of a campaign? § What are the case studies in Asia that illustrate such issues? § How do communication practitioners in Asia adopt and use communication technology to create social change? § What are the ethical concerns and challenges resulted from the utility of the communication technology?
