Students often times ask me why I am never in a bad mood. I explain there is a difference between showing up to work with a smile on your face versus being in a good mood. For my 20th high school reunion, I was able to not only see my incredible classmates; I was also fortunate enough to thank my teachers from that bygone era. This is a picture of my mr b. His name was mr davis and still is, except now I call him Mack. This is the guy I tell people about when they ask me why I became a teacher. He is a larger than life sort of man. He shovels shit, is a brilliant literary genius, is still able to outrun me, and is a damn cool fellow to know. He was my teacher, my coach, my advisor, my mentor, and my dorm parent. And now I count him as my friend, which is what I guess he was the whole time. That rapport is what inspires me every single day I go to work and face the teen masses. I try to remember Macks patience and genial demeanor. He also showed up to work with a smile everyday too.
