Stylized Facts: While reading FAO report called the “Missing Food” i came across the following facts: it is estimated that currently, one (1) out of every five (5) kilograms of grains produced in Sub Saharan Africa is lost due to pests and decay. This lost food is enough to feed 48 million people for 12 months and is valued at around $4 Billion or 50% annual grain imports to Africa. This means that a reduction in grain losses could have an immediate and significant impact on people’s livelihoods.
