Before Medina Baye was inhabited by cheikh Ibrahim Niass (RA) and his followers , my grandfather was the governor of this land. One day after the morning prayers my grandfather was overcome by sleep when he saw the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in a dream, and he , the messenger of Allah, explained to him that a reviver of Islam is coming and is in need of refuge from those of his tribe who have turned against him out of jealously of the blessing that Allah (swt) has bestowed upon him. He kept this dream to himself and waited for the arrival of the proclaimed reviver that the prophet told him about. A months time passed when cheikh Ibrahim Niass (RA) arrived and immediately my grandfather knew that this was the man the messenger of Allah (pbuh) was referring to. Before any formal greetings or introductions took place my grandfather explained his dream to cheikh Ibrahim Niass (RA) and pledged his allegiance to him. That pledge of allegiance not only entailed his commitment and his families commitment to his mission , but the land which is now known as Median Baye.
