SubhanAllah, how abruptly the days are coming to an end and how rapidly the nights are passing us by. Such was the state of our hearts, that we were counting down the days till the blessed days of Ramadan arrived. How is the condition of our hearts today as Ramadan prepares to leave? It is already the last ten days of Ramadan. Especially the time when Laylatul Qadr could be on any of the odd nights. So lets not just slack in front of the TV, or waste time in worldly items in laptops, phones and computers, or spend time in idle talk and gossip, but lets spend our time in: - Making lots of duaa - Doing dhikr e.g. Istighfar - Reading the Quran - Extra acts of worship such as praying voluntary prayers like Tahajjud. When praying, dont just pray using the shorter surahs you know. Try to make your prayers longer, deeper and meaningful. If you are familiar with longer surahs, read the translation and explanation and then pray reciting these surahs, carefully reflecting on the meaning while you pray. - Making a personal duaa list and trying to memorise a different duaa every night - Spending time reading tafseer or the translation of Quran - Doing Itikaf, even if it is for one night only - Making long, sincere and deep duaas - Giving zakah or charity to the poor, including those who are suffering around the world - Helping our mothers around the house, and others too - Reading a book about our beloved Prophet SalAllahu Alahi Wassallam, the other prophets also, his beloved wives and companions etc., or other Islamic stories - Evaluating yourself and seeing what you can do or how you can improve yourself as a better Muslim ... ... And so many other good deeds down the list which will multiply you in rewards when wasting time is earning you a reserved fire of hell. Dont forget to make lots of duaa for our beloved brothers and sisters in Palestine/Gaza, Syria, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Burma, Nepal, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Somalia, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, Somalia, Egypt, Morocco and all the other oppressed Muslim lands around the world. Also dont forget to recite the below supplication on the odd nights in which Laylatul Qadr could be in: (اللهم إنك عفو كريم تحب العفو فاعف عنى) Allahumma Innaka Afuwwun Kareemun Tuhibbul Afwa Fafu Anni Oh Allah, indeed You are Forgiving, and You love to Forgive, so Forgive me.
