Subject Specialist, Middle School Assessment Framework Aga Khan University Examination Board, Pakistan Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is a Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, established in 2003 by Aga Khan University in response to a demand from schools for more appropriate school examinations. AKU-EB’s primary objective is to improve the quality of education by making examinations of a reputable standard more accessible to Pakistani students and having them increasingly valued by leading higher education institutions within and outside the country. Aga Khan University invites applications for the position Subject Specialist, Middle School Assessment Framework. Responsibilities The appointee will be responsible for the development of the grade specific test items for grades VI-VIII. S/he will contribute towards the development of the portfolio assessment tasks offered under the Middle School Assessment Framework including the facilitation of the agreement trail meetings and professional development workshops aimed at supporting teachers in reaching common assessment standards. Specific responsibilities will be to: keep the Middle School schemes of work under constant review and coordinate the work of subject panels for the development of new and revision of existing subject specific schemes of work coordinate the item writing and review process for the progress tests, gather and resolve feedback from multiple sources on items; evaluate item acceptability after pre-testing ensure that all items developed and accepted are banked according to the cognitive levels while displaying its usage and performance levels ensure that the item bank is never exhausted of new items for a specific subject area or particular topics recruit, train, mentor, and manage external item writers; assist with facilitation of item writer training sessions assist in the design and development of new assessment tasks for the portfolio assessment route monitor the test development schedule for the assigned programme coordinate the yearly agreement trial meetings involving teachers from the participating schools. Requirements Candidates should have: a postgraduate degree in Social Sciences including subjects such as Sociology, Psychology or General Science; expertise in assessment and testing would be advantageous a minimum of three years experience of teaching at grades VI-VIII and of administration, as well as some experience in project management exposure to school based assessment, inquiry based learning and use of multiple resources for teaching strong IT skills, especially knowledge of Word, Excel and data handling excellent spoken and written English excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues within and outside the organization ability to prioritize own work effectively ability to maintain strict confidentiality familiarity with editorial and translation procedures would be an advantage.
