Subject: Wreaths Across America 12-13-2014 Marietta National Cemetery, Georgia by THE OLD GUARD OF THE GATE CITY GUARD “1893” Saturday’s wreath placement event was very successful. It began at noon with some ceremonial activities including a brief talk by Marietta Mayor Tumlin and a short story about the civil war by KSU historian, Brian Wills. The weather was cool and breezy, but not a cloud in the sky. Over 650 wreaths were placed by a team of 50-60 attendees. It was nice to see an increase in the number of youngsters participating, all very serious in their conduct and in following correct protocol for honoring each placement. A small portion of the result is shown in this photo. If you werent there to see it, you should take a little ride through the cemetery. I think you will be impressed. It was quite beautiful out there when we finished at 1:00 pm. We Will exceed 1000 wreaths next year. Please tell your friends about Wreaths Across America. And again, *Thank You!* in memory of our Veterans Sincerely COL Houston Spencer, Jr. Master of ceremonies Past Commander of the Centennial Legion
