Subjective and Objective Metaphysical Reasoning ‘a priori’ reasoning, Truth of reason. The subjective state of mortal thinking claims material existence is enigmatic, however spiritualized human thought continues to demonstrate rather scientifically that exposing material existence as unreal is proof of a subjective state of one divine Mind. The enigma of past presumption, now spiritually revealed, is a thing or event thought to be; two basic types of objective fact.(A) Thing as entity, and (B) event as established only by the factualness of entity, this line of thought suggests many truths of many facts, and that existing within the public domain are these two ‘objective facts’ accessible to all. Well now, what about this subjective thinking? Given our ability to be cognizant or discern ourselves in the presence of an ‘existing presence’ other than ‘thing or entity’, is not this also objective reasoning, or is it a more unlimited state? For thought to be conceptual, subjective phenomenon must be beyond primacy, and in reality is the state of being eternal. M.B. Eddy states in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures; “When apparently near the confines of mortal existence, standing already within the shadow of the death-valley, I learned these truths in divine Science: that all real being is in God, the divine Mind, and that Life, Truth, and Love are all-powerful and ever-present ; that the opposite of Truth, — called error, sin, sickness, disease, death, — is the false testimony of false material sense, of mind in matter; that this false sense evolves, in belief, a subjective state of mortal mind which this same so-called mind names matter, thereby shutting out the true sense of Spirit.” M.B.E. The false testimony of false material sense, of mind in matter, in other words reason a posteriori.. Think about the following statement; “while I agree material existence is enigmatic, it is now ‘thought to be’ the ‘enigma’ of presumption past.” Through the practice of Christian Science I learned questions of reality are logically answered, and reality puzzles are routinely solved. .While “a posteriori reasoning shows material existence to be enigmatic, Spirit and its spiritual expression gives the true mental idea, the necessary and permanent Truth. We cannot interpret Spirit, Mind, through matter. .Matter neither sees, hears, nor feels. . Man brought into a state of ceaseless divine submission, as tributary to one divine Mind finds the state of being the original or ‘first’ or of ‘primacy’ is replaced by ‘only’ and ‘always’, primacy gives way to eternal, without rank or number. Remember Jesus’ immediacy in the establishment of Peter’s trustworthiness, by proclaiming the authenticity and reliability of the answer given to a puzzling question? The answer divinely revealed was not halted, put off, blocked, ranked, or denied. As necessary today as when Jesus asked “but whom say ye that I am?” The priestly answer now as then is the Urim and Thummim (see glossary of Science and Health) of selfless- sufficiency. Trusting in omnipotent Principle follows that the reflection of I, Ego, is here and now ordained reliable, authentic and trustworthy by one almighty Soul. Not the work of ‘super ego’, that division of Freudian fame, egotism, egotistical, that so called mortal thinking and subsequent error of matter, but reality of Ego as omnipotent Spiritual discernment, ever mindful of the origin of both object and subject as based in conceptual ideas and emanates from one Mind. A posteriori reasoning would say words are contingent on empirical factualness, that all words are traceable to, not from,metaphysical materialization. Discernment of word as all-powerful enfolds the conceptual idea from the divine manifestation of Life that enters the human experience to destroy incarnate error before the need arises. That an omnipresent Love meets human need, reconciles man to God, not God to man, we then realize metaphysically the only Scientific definition of Christ is not material but: “The divine manifestation of ‘Life’ that comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error.” M.B.E. And then from Colossians, a sense of the Christ activity: “in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:” Demonstrably then; there is no life or truth in matter, all is Mind and its spiritual manifestation. In reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and practicing its Science, I learned causation is mental: “Christian Science explains all cause and effect as mental, not physical. It lifts the veil of mystery from Soul and body. It shows the scientific relation of man to God, disentangles the interlaced ambiguities of being, and sets free the imprisoned thought. In divine Science, the universe, including man, is spiritual, harmonious, and eternal. Science shows that what is termed matter is but the subjective state of what is termed by the author mortal mind.” Mary Baker Eddy. Man, as the aggregation of spiritual idea naturally limits subjective mortal reasoning until it dissolves into nothingness. The subjective state, while seeming self-evident to the one experiencing it, is but a subjective state of mortal belief evolving a so-called material existence. This Science is ours to prove and in so doing, continuing the healing work of Jesus and his students. Mary Baker Eddy lived on to prove the work of Christian healing.
