Submarine Museum to Host USCIS Military Appreciation, Naturalization Ceremony, TOMORROW, May 23 at 9 a.m. GROTON, Conn. - Members and friends of the Naval Submarine Base New London community are invited to attend and show their support for seventeen local members of the military and military family who will become citizens of the United States in a special U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Naturalization Ceremony at the Historic Ship Nautilus and Submarine Force Library & Museum, Friday, May 23, 2014 at 9 a.m. This special event commemorates Military Appreciation Month, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day. The 17 candidates receiving citizenship include two sailors and two Team New London family members. The 17 candidates originate from the following 14 countries: Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Ghana, Jamaica, Lebanon, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Sweden, and Trinidad and Tobago. Local candidates participating in this ceremony reside in the following cities and towns: Groton, Gales Ferry, Ledyard, and New London. Special guests participating in the ceremony include the Honorable Joe Courtney, U.S. House of Representatives. The Ceremony is open to the public. Uniform for military members attending the ceremony as audience members is Navy Working Uniform or better.
