Success Spotlight: Jacob was admitted to the high acuity unit at Kindred Hospital Chicago Northlake following a diagnosis of septic embolic pneumonia and a recent tracheostomy and feeding tube placement. He was unable to stand or walk at that time of his admission, along with requiring maximum assistance for other functions of daily living. To increase his strength and further maximize his recovery, he participated in our rehab gym program 5 days a week. In less then a month, he was able to be weaned from the ventilator and had his trach removed. He was also able to start eating a regular diet and had his feeding tube removed. Jacob was eventually walkling on his own and was discharged home with his fiancé. We wish him teh absolute best!
