Success. There is only one path you can depend on to give you the best shot at achieving success, and that is to make a series of good decisions leading to a goal that you have set in mind. Set the goal. This is important because if you dont, others will for you. No matter how much you have, it will never be enough. You will find yourself looking left and right at what others have, instead of in your own rear view mirror, which reminds you of how far you have come. I know people with so much, and the more they obtain, the more unhappy they become. Why? Because the more you gain, the less you really have. You think that money is the answer, but did you know that people WITH money are often the most insecure about money? It makes sense, because the more you have, the more effort and energy you have to place into keeping it. Think. You have a car and a home, how much extra does it cost you to insure and protect them? You have a great job, how much stress and work does it take to keep it? A major component of success is having a goal, not just as something to aim for, but also an indicator that says I have arrived, now I can stop. It doesnt matter how great of a distance runner you are if there is no finish line, if you keep running you will die. Secondly. Make good decisions. This is the tough part, because we would much rather make bad decisions and end up with great results. I want to stay with someone who is abusive... but in the end I hope my relationship is successful. I want to keep eating in an unhealthy way... but I hope my health is good when I age, and that I keep a youthful look. I want to spend, spend, spend... but Im hoping to be financially secure later in life. I let my parents run my life... but Im hoping for a better relationship with my spouse. Do you see the point I am making here? If you want to be successful, not only must you define it by setting goals, but you must also make good decisions on your destination. Do not depend on good luck, because good luck is rare. More often you are going to experience bad luck or no luck at all. Depend on good decisions, the hard rights over the easy wrongs.
