Such a strange feeling watching my students chatter and interact - TopicsExpress

Such a strange feeling watching my students chatter and interact today. Mostly none of them were even born 13 years ago. None of them know what it was like before the day the world changed. Every year on 9/11, while I do think of the lives lost and the families left with holes in hearts, I choose to remember happy thoughts. The convo I had with my grandmother, who thought the Twin Towers were in Paris. Stories of families reunited and heroes emerging from the likely and unlikely. The theatre community and SNL and other media outlets bringing light to darkness. But mostly I think of those days and weeks after 9-11-01, when strangers were saying hello and people were performing random acts of kindness and for once, everyone felt united and the same. I wish every day was like 9/12 and 9/14 and 9/25. How quick we are to forget, sometimes.
