Such an interesting baseball night on Tuesday as the Beltway franchises, the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals, clinched their respective divisions. An interesting sidenote...both teams have strong past ties to the Montreal Expos. The Montreal franchise was moved to DC in 2005 and became the Nationals. On the Baltimore side, their Executive VP is Dan Duquette, who was Montreals director of player development and then GM. From 87-94, he was involved with Expos teams that were known for years for their great farm system, and an Expos team in 94 that was the best in baseball before the strike snuffed out that season. But his years in Boston from 94-02 were choppier. Now hes in Baltimore with another team thats back in the post-season, the 2nd one in 3 years.
