Sucks and it doesnt: I really wished that Kim Jong-un, The dictator of North Korea, hadnt closed the borders, screwing a christmas adventure that although many consider dangerous, I was certain that was going to be unique and super interesting. Today there was no rain but my private boat (which I paid extra money for so I can go early and beat the tour crowds) was late, and then broke in the first stop, being stuck for almost two hours. The islands we visited were beautiful yet I ended paying 7000 (about $160) pesos for nothing as I did and saw exactly as the group boats which each person paid 1400 pesos (about 30$). Plus we couldnt go to some places because it was supposedly rough waters. To top this off, My plan of Camping overnight in a deserted island also fell through when the people of the boat wanted to drop me in a beach in the mainland. I gave up to do that with them because it wasnt what I was looking for and because there was a chance that they would probably pick me up late next morning, making me lose my last chance to see the sights I missed today. When I got into town, I tried to get a reliable tour operator to get me to an island to camp, but in Christmas Eve, everything was closed. So my Philippine adventure sucks because I couldnt do anything I planned it (not able to visit the tribes in the south or camp in a deserted island, and it has been cloudy) On the other hand, It doesnt suck because it is a pretty place, people are nice and Is a blessing to travel to a new land :) Hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow, the tour group (which I usually avoid) will impress me and I leave El Nido feeling amazed.
