Sueselbeck may face deportation, says de Lima - MANILA - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Friday said Jeffrey Laudes fiance, Marc Sueselbeck, may face deportation proceedings after breaching security in Camp Aguinaldo and showing disrespect to a person in authority. De Lima said the Bureau of Immigration (BI), an attached agency of the Dept of Justice (DOJ), may motu proprio initiate deportation proceedings even as the BI is now awaiting the formal request of the Armed Forces of the Philippines for Sueselbecks deportation. De Lima said Philippine authorities may also file charges against Sueselbeck, in which case his deportation may be put on hold. The justice chief stressed that foreigners on Philippine soil should respect laws and persons in authority here. The Philippine military on Thursday criticized Sueselbeck for scaling a perimeter fence at Camp Aguinaldo and shoving an on-duty soldier. In a statement, Armed Forces spokesman Harold Cabunoc said the AFP will send a letter to the German Embassy and the Bureau of Immigration about Sueselbecks misbehavior. Cabunoc said Sueselbeck entered an off-limits area, the Mutual Defense Board (MDB) and Security Engagement Board (SEB) facility, in their search for US Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton. On the other hand, Sueselbeck assaulted a person in authority, the on-duty Filipino soldier guarding the holding facility. He forcefully shoved said soldier after climbing the perimeter fence, Cabunoc said. The Center for International Law has said Sueselbeck is willing to face all the consequences of his actions. “When we talked to Mr. Sueselbeck about this, he was very apologetic and told us he ‘just blanked out’ and did not know the strength that suddenly seized him and propelled him to do what he did. He was overcome with anger when he saw US Marines posted there laughing at Ms. Laudes efforts to get inside the premises of the facility,” the law firm said. “He wishes to apologize to the Filipino marine guarding the outer reaches of the facility he unintentionally ran against,” it added.
