Sukazi explains Majoro situation Posted: 31 January 2014 Time: 07:27 pm Lehlohonolo Majoro failed in a bid to move to Orlando Pirates during the January transfer window, and here his agent, Tim Sukuzi, explains the reasons behind it. ‘Major’ has already agreed to join the Buccaneers on a pre-contract, and was desperate to move to Parktown before his contract expired at the end of the season. But despite Chiefs slashing the ‘transfer consideration’, the deal never materialized before the window shut closed today, with Bobby Motaung confirming that Pirates ‘never got back to them’. Sukazi tells KickOff: “As I understand Chiefs did everything in their power to make the move possible by even slashing the initially proposed transfer consideration by 50 percent. Despite all this, unfortunately there was no further movement from Pirates’ side. “When I stated yesterday that the chances of him moving] are 99.9 percent, I based that statement purely on info received at the time in relation to Chiefs slashing the transfer consideration which, as far as I understand, they did by written communication. “Right now there is nothing more to say than Majoro a Chiefs player until the end of the current season.” Asked why he thought Pirates had not bothered responding to Chiefs’ offer, Sukazi adds: “I am not privy as to the actual reasons as to Pirates not finalising the move to Kaizer Chiefs. “However, and with hindsight, if I were in Pirates’ shoes perhaps I would have adopted the same stance. I’m saying this because I had already indicated on several occasions that there would be legal consequences in the relation to the player himself given the clandestine manner in which he concluded the pre-contract with Pirates. “Therefore, if you are sitting as a big brand such as Orlando Pirates in a situation where you acquired a player who is likely to face litigation, you would be very cautious and, in fact, you would go as far as taking legal advice on such a matter. “If that is the case, these type of situations could cause some delay and unfortunately the transfer window deadline was fast approaching, meaning there was no sufficient time to do everything you deem necessary. “However, like I said, these are my honest views as a legal person and of course I believe Orlando Pirates will make their own statement in due course and at a time which they will deem appropriate.” Article by: Ryan Cooper
