Sullivan Selected as Submarine School Sailor of the Quarter GROTON, Conn (October 29, 2014) - STS1 (SS) Anthony Sullivan is Naval Submarine Schools Sailor of the Fourth Quarter 2014, selected Wednesday, 29 October, in ceremonies sponsored by the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 20. Sullivan is an instructor in the Advanced Sonar Pipeline, Advanced Training and Readiness Department. Captain Andrew C. Jarrett, Commanding Officer, Naval Submarine School, lauded Sullivan who also served as class advisor for Submarine Electronic Computer Field (SECF) Sonar A School, as directly responsible for leading, mentoring the successful graduation of 21 Initial Accession Sailors. He was personally selected for an intra-department transfer to the advanced training and readiness department due to his superior technical knowledge and his personal drive, qualifying Journeyman Sonar modules in less than three months. Sullivan received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of Third Award) and was presented with a replica statuette of the Lone Sailor by George Hyland of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 20. Also honored as Department Sailors of the Quarter were: MA1 Mary Miracle, MM1 (SS) Mark Russomano, FT1 (SS) Ryan Thurston and ET1 (SS) Michael Levy. MM2 (SS) Travis Stratman was the Junior Sailor of the Quarter, selected by the Naval Submarine School First Class Petty Officer Association. Other nominees included CSSN Jarrett Stone, FT2 (SS) James Ashley, STS2 (SS) Sidney Morris and ET2 (SS) Jason Price. FT1 (SS) Bradley Beda was honored by the Naval Submarine School Master Training Specialist Board as Instructor of the Fourth Quarter of 2014. Also honored as 2014 Instructors of the Year were: LT Dan Goodwin, ETC (SS) Kevin Neamon, STS1 (SS) Max Levine and ET2 (SS) Jason Price. HM2 (DSW/SW/EXW) Brett McEntire and STS1 (SS) Anthony Sullivan were named 2014 Junior Sailor and Sailor of the Year.
