Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. is accepting applications for Apprentice‐Substation/SCADA Tech. The successful candidate will enter an apprenticeship wherein he/she will learn to provide technical support to the cooperative by carrying out building, installing, operating, testing, adjusting, and maintaining electrical distribution substations, and transmission switching stations, line control devices, and SCADA system. This position is also responsible for providing testing, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining electronic and solid‐state devices used in substations and line devices. Requirements are high School Graduate and one year certificate from college or technical school in electronics; four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must also possess a working knowledge of electrical theory and related mathematics through physical science. Must be able to climb towers up to 200 ft. Must also attain a climbing certification within one year of assignment. Must also obtain and/or maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL).Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the candidate will be familiar with substations, regulators, reclosers, power circuit breakers, circuit switchers, SCADA systems, relays, test equipment, and troubleshooting techniques. He/she will also be able to read electrical one‐line diagrams and schematics and will be able to utilize vendor and company software. SSVEC offers an hourly starting salary of $20.05 depending on experience with increases contingent upon progress within the apprenticeship. SSVEC also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
