Sunday, 1stDecember, 2013. FAVOUR: A FACTOR FOR YOUR LIFTING “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” Romans 9:16. There are conditions to satisfy in order to succeed in life. Going by Peter’s encounter with the Lord in Luke 5:1-11; the first thing you need so as to succeed is divine favour. When the Lord got to the Lake, He saw two empty boats with no names attached; He chose the one that belonged to Peter. Romans 9:16 says, “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth , but of God that showeth mercy”. This simply means that success in life is not necessarily hinged on our personal effort, plan or wisdom; a lot has to do with God’s mercy. If you make all your input without the benefit of divine favour you may never realize your desired end. You need divine favour to prosper or succeed in life. Divine favour singles you out of a crowd for an honour you do not deserve. Sometimes, some of such favours may come to you in form of an error, yet they will deliver you good dividends. Hence, favour is divine partiality. It can also be described as God qualifying the unqualified and disqualifying the qualified. In the gospel of Luke, chapter one, Zacharias asked exactly the same question Mary asked but while Mary got an answer, Zacharias was made dumb - divine partiality! In the case of Esther, God disqualified Queen Vashti and qualified, Esther, a Jewish slave girl in her stead. Therefore, I declare, before the end of this year, you shall be singled out for favour in Jesus’ name! QUOTE: Favour is God qualifying the unqualified and disqualifying the qualified. WORD OF PRAYER: Dear Lord, let the oil of your favour fall upon me today in Jesus’ name. Amen!
