Sunday Go to Meeting: Call it the praise break rhythm, or a shout - TopicsExpress

Sunday Go to Meeting: Call it the praise break rhythm, or a shout rhythm -- when a gospel group swings into double time and people start moving -- but whatever the nomenclature, there was no element more directly imported from gospel into rock. That driving rhythm is the essence of rocking. And no one did it better than the Caravans during their peak in the late 50s and early 60s, who turned it into the basis not of breaks but of whole recorded performances like this one from 1958 with Inez Andrews on lead. Not tired yet, indeed.
