Message: Bro. Randy Underwood - Matthew 26:36-46. We dont know what will happen in the future but we will plan things expecting them to come to fruition. Not knowing whats to come can often cause insecurities in our life. We can end us fretting over something that might happen. Some people will often do crazy things not knowing what the consequences or dangers are. Then there are those who see what the consequences and dangers are and they alter their actions to prevent facing those situations. In all of this we do know that God is all knowing and knows the end from the beginning. Jesus is omniscient. Yet when faced with the situation in the garden, knowing what was to come, and knowing that he was to rise in three days, his flesh feared what was to come. The divine will of God does not always match our own will. God has set some things in our path without asking us because he knows what we really need. Jesuss fleshly will was to let the cup pass from him but conceded to the divine will of God knowing the promise. Our sense of time does not match Gods. We often feel that our prayers are not being answered in the time we want them to. God works on a different level than us and will answer when his time is right. Jesus was in a beautiful garden facing an ugly problem. He was under pressure from what was coming and was doing his best not to crumble. Jesus tried to get the disciples to help him and asked them to help him pray. He goes ahead to pray leaving the three disciples behind and when he returns they have fallen asleep. They were not feeling the pressure that Jesus was. It is in these times of pressure like Jesus was in that we seek human connection to help us through this time. It is during these times that we often reach for things that wont help us. Jesus went back three times to find the disciples sleeping, not helping him pray. Jesus realized that he had to rely on the divine God to get him through this time of pressure. He had to rely on the grace of God to help him through it. Sometimes the happy ending is not when we get what want. God doesnt always answer in the way we want. However, he said his grace is sufficient to get us through. The happy ending will be when God takes the pressure off in the way he wants to and we can continue to walk with him in his grace. We can only get to this point when we can realize what is coming and still say not my will but thine be done Lord.
