Sunday Reflections First Sunday of Advent 2013 Tuesday, 26 November 2013 15:19 Be Prepared! When Jesus came the first time few were prepared to receive him. Are we ready for when he comes again? The Gospel offers three suggestions for readiness: First, like Noah, we need to read the signs of the times and act accordingly. Where do we hear the voice of God each day? Are we listening and responding? Are we waiting for someone else to take initiative when we hear God calling us to commitment? Second, each person is called to offer their lives and endeavors to God. Although from the outside two people appear to be doing the same thing, what is their inner motivation? Do we work each day for the Kingdom of God or only for our own benefit? Each of us each day needs to decide light and darkness, good and evil, justice or selfishness. Third, we don’t know when our final day on earth will be and so we are called to live each day as if it were the last. If I only had one day left, would I be worried about what bothers me now? How and with whom would I spend my last moments? Why not begin to live that way today? The Lord comes to us each day. Each day is the last day. Prepare to meet him…today! Fr.
