Sunday at 2:27pm HiCaliber Horse Rescue wrote a very thought provoking post. This post pointed out how our horses can be just one good home away from a terrifying situation. Or for those that really are unaware how taking your horse to auction might mean selling your horse to someone whom you would rather not purchase your horse. People often ask how what looked like once loved horses ended up starved and neglected in the MHHIN herd. Unfortunately, this is not all that uncommon. Take a look at the pictures of the lovely horses up for auction every couple of weeks. Usually their photos can be seen at HiCaliber, Auction Horses Rescue, or Forgotten Horses Rescue, Inc. Slaughter is real. Match races are real, Horse Tripping is real. So many horses go from owner to owner especially now as times are tough. Keep track of your horses as best as you can after they have left your care. This is why I have felt that once a horse has been pulled from one traumatic situation we must make every effort to place it into a rescue so that it always has a home to fall back on should it ever need it.
