Sunday is Market Day in Darwin - there are markets EVERYWHERE! Last week I went to the Nightcliff market and ended up eating too much (a pork ball and slice of lemongrass tofu) and wound up vomiting (pleasant huh!). This week I went to the local Rapid Creek markets - only had a pork bun (then went home and had a good lie down) - but bought half a dozen home laid eggs for $2, 1kg of small (but not cherry) tomatoes for $2 and a bunch of tiny bananas for $1.80. The markets here are awesome - Rapid Creek is mainly fresh food and Nightcliff is food, clothing, arts and crafts. Really strong Asian influence in these markets and the smell of the various foods is AMAZING! Has to laugh when I saw a 10 year old getting a Thai back rub - poor sod must have had a stressful week.
