Sunday night I watched the last of the 4th season of Sister Wives - TopicsExpress

Sunday night I watched the last of the 4th season of Sister Wives and Return to Amish. I enjoy watching different cultures. With the sister wives, I guess I dont get it. They had a family in Missouri they visited and the 1st wife had 9 children when they adopted a second wife, younger with a job. I could see that, as it gave the family more income and stability and extra help with the children. Im not judgemental about it. The Brown children seem healthy, happy and well adjusted. I dont think his first wife is going to stay the course though and I saw some kind of ugly behavior towards her, so time will tell. ( Soap opera stuff ) Having such big families seems to be counterproductive to our growing over population. On Return to Amish it was interesting seeing how the Amish younger generation acted with their freedom, really swore like sailors, partied it up and carried on spitefully. Then they kind of grew up and Mary the Amish mother who didnt follow the rules but kept in touch with her children and their friends saw them mature and grow into decent people. She stood her ground and wouldnt give up her family to follow the rules. Her sins were riding in a car, drinking a bit and doing a little dancing along with inviting her shunned children and their friends for dinner. They lost their livelihood and friends for those horrible sins. I can understand being moral but when you destroy peoples families by shunning and the threat of shunning that is very unjust and against nature. It is hard for me to accept that even though some of the Amish ways are appealing to me. Now I will be watching ,Escaping Alaska about young Eskimo people who want to see what life has to offer away from their culture. Dont know if others watch these shows. Im not into the alligator wrestlers and honeybooboo type shows.
