Sunnday School Manual- 18-8-2013 TOPIC: SERVICE THAT PAYS Memory Verse : “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.” Eph 6:6 (KJV) Bible Passage : John 12:23-33 INTRODUCTON Christ preached and proved service in that He gave his life in Service. It wasn’t easy but he did it because of the love he had for God the Father. His service produced the reward of positioning. Our Christian service is meant to also produce rewards. Why then is it that some labor without any reward? We hope to find answers at the end of this discussion of the 2 sub- topics. Lets study! SUB TOPICS 1. HEART SERVICE 2. EYE SERVICE 1. HEART SERVICE: Service from the Heart: Col 3:23-do it heartily. It is work done from the heart. Deut 11: 13-14, When anything is done from the heart it pleases God and brings a reward. Service without Compulsion: 1 Pet 5:2-without constraint. You don’t need to be forced serve. 1Cor 9:16-18, willingly serving God in the line of ministry one is called to assures us of reward. Seeing Christ not the Crisis: Eph 6:7-as to the Lord. 2 Tim 2:3-5,9-10, Paul was not seeing his sufferings but the resurrected Christ. Let us keep serving even in pains. EVIDENCE OF HEART SERVICE: i. FULFILLMENT ii. UPLIFTMENT as exemplified in Paul and Timothy 2Tim 4:6-8. 2. EYE SERVICE: Serving with the Eyes: Luke 9:62-looking back. Why must you keep looking back? It means the eyes would determine the work. When the eyes determine work you cant be effective in God’s plan- Col 3:22. Cunny Service For Men’s Reward: Rom 16:17-18-decieving the hearts of the simple. When your service is only done to show that you are serving so that you can be rewarded by persons in authority then you are just like the Pharisees- Matt 23: 23,29-31. EVIDENCE OF EYE SERVICE: i. MEDIOCRITY ii. FALSE UPLIFTMENT ENDING IN A FALL. Eg Demas- 2 Tim 4: 10. CONCLUSION Brethren, it is possible to serve from the heart and be rewarded even while on earth. Moses was an example of a man who served from the heart. None of his prayers was unanswered. IF YOU DON’T SERVE YOU WILL SWERVE; QUALITY SERVICE TO GOD WILL GIVE YOUR LIFE QUALITY STABILITY!
