(Super long post) Today I had some time, and went on Twitter, which I seldom go to because Im not familiar about how it works, I typed on some search terms Singaporean youtubers and see people hating on Singaporean youtubers. I feel upset, for the entire community, obviously as humans we are not perfect, we are about as imperfect as the people that bash us. We are not celebrities, we are not stars, we arent a super alien race disguised as a fat dude in front of the computer eating Ferraro rocher. We are also humans, and we feel upset when people diss us like this. Obviously we cant make everybody like us, but I was taught to say nothing when theres nothing good say. Why ruin somebodys day with an opinion when YOUR opinion does not equate to fact? Anyway, back to the Twitter search. Im not sure who are those people saying but I do feel sad for the community at large because they dont know how much effort, how much courage, how much money, how much time, and how much begging we must muster/spend/do to produce the simple 5 minutes video that you watch, only to let them bash in mere seconds. Amongst all the occupations in the world, there is truly one occupation I dislike, and thats critique, unless the person is an authority of the field that he/she criticizing, and Only if the person can do better, otherwise I feel that person should just stfu. Of course, this is just my opinion, and opinion may not be facts. Like any industry, there are problems, politics, ups and downs, communication breakdowns, accidents and frankly, we keep these things to ourselves, because we are entertainers, and hence we must entertain every query, comment, trolling and every single minute of our life. We must force a smile no matter we are upset, angry, or disappointed, we must be happy all the damn time! Singapore Internet community is one of the worst, a quick scan on google about NOC, and some current affairs and we have people fantasizing on our girls, comparing to who is prettier and who is not, judging about what they wear or what they are capable of in bed behind a computer screen, mashing the keyboard like a faceless warrior. Then theres the another group that are always quick to whip out the phone to capture scandals, incidents, accidents and drama, but never the first to call the ambulance or police when needed. The thing about this faceless trolls is that when faced in real life, they usually keep quiet. For example, when the ice bucket challenge was all the rage, people complain behind the safety of their screens about how water is wasted and stuff. When a youtuber waste half a mooncake, they talk about that. But when Michael Bay blows up an entire car, factory or block off roads to facilitate his filming, or when Chris Hemsworth throw a giant piece of ham and wine to the floor, thats fine! I dont hear anyone talking about it. Moving on, I hate it when people complain the lack of creativity in Singapore, its because of people like you, people are afraid to show their creativity, for fear they are judged and criticized but someone who probably dont know what they talking about and will air lift quotes from the net and end their sentences with a full stop to sound legitimate. In Singapore Internet, I see more ugly than good. People tell me to ignore, which of course is the best way to handle that, and I been doing that, but quite frankly, its getting worst. Perhaps we belong to a time where its ok to talk thrash behind the monitors, hand phones and iPads. In a couple weeks time, we are turning 2 years old officially as NOC, and most of you wont believe it when I tell you we had more downs than ups, more tears than smiles, more frustration than happiness, more friends than true friends, more misunderstanding than facts, more assumptions than truths, more disappointments than celebrations. But at the end of the day, we love our job, and we do it for the people that we care and care about us, and with that, I end my whining post. (P.s - Im a school dropout and I know my English capabilities are limited and usually I have difficulty expressing myself (thats y Xi guay Ong only got 4 expressions) 👑🍉😁 Peace
