Support Nodutol in Queens/nyc! From Sukjong: Tomorrow night - Kimchi Bowl fundraiser for Nodutdol for Korean Community Development! Nodutdol has been around for 15 years, linking local and global struggles relating to Korean community issues with a focus on peace and militarism, a grassroots-based all-volunteer effort redbaited since the Bush years and just this year redbaitted by S. Koreas presidential Blue House and Saenuri Party (woot woot!) Its hard to quantify how many thousands of volunteer hours have made our programs and projects possible, from our oral history project with elders memories of the Korean War and military dictatorship, to programs that visit both sides of the divided Korean peninsula, plus our solidarity work with other API peace groups and programs that highlight S. Korean progressive organizations, from LGBT human rights solidarity to Sewol bereaved families campaign for a safety law. But we still have to pay rent and buy paints and make copies and support coordinators who work for hundreds of hours at no charge to make our overseas programs possible.
