Supporters of Mark Duggan arrived at the High Court on Wednesday - TopicsExpress

Supporters of Mark Duggan arrived at the High Court on Wednesday to witness a legal challenge of the original inquest verdict handed down in January that ruled Duggan had been lawfully killed. They argued the jury was misdirected and the verdict should be overturned. There was anger and disbelief when the inquest found Mark Duggan was unarmed at time of his killing but still returned a verdict that supported the official narrative. There is no public memorial here but this is the spot where on August 4th 2011, Mark Duggan was killed by bullets fired from a metropolitan police officers gun. In the ensuing chaos, Tottenham, already a community with a history of conflict with the police, erupted in violence. Hear- This disorder spread and resulted in hundreds being charged and jailed. Campaigners say the Mark Duggan campaign works with other cases of official injustice. The Duggan inquest verdict challenge is expected to run over two days with a decision due shortly after closing arguments.
