Sure Ill miss the bathroom confessionals, watching some talented as f**k artists/theater techs bring it every day becoming a single complex cooperative machine. Ill miss pretending to be Filipino and psychoanalyzing the Marcos (and eating Filipino food!). Ill miss regularly wrangling David Byrne. Ill miss watching an audience as they forget to filter their face- thinking no one is watching them- as they take this crazy ride, becoming delighted children and weeping survivors, sometimes jealous lovers- the way people share what they love together and the way they take care of each other in challenging or confusing situations. Ill miss my vacation from the impoverished world of experimental theater (Robotic lights! How many live video feeds?! How many costume changes? Champagne toasts!!!!!! Why not install industrial fans for one scene? Oh, you want to buy me makeup and sneakers?- dont mind if I do. Celebrity audience!). Ill miss throwing my little weight around like a Napoleon herding my people, playing a hero to fainting damsels in distress, the powerdrunk feeling of wearing a walkie......sigh..... Ill miss calling work The Disco. Ill miss silliness and a daily support system. But mostly Ill miss the convenience of having my very own locker/storage space in downtown Manhattan...... Kidding, Ill miss you all so much and the magic of living daily in this crazy world.
